Some Assembly Required, Are You Kidding! What is the most frustrating/time consuming item that you've ever had to assemble?

I purchased a fryer/steamer. I thought the set up would be as simple as pulling it out of the box and then plugging it into the outlet. Heck no..... I had to first find a screwdriver so I could attach 4 legs and 2 handles before I could use it. It was simple, even a Bumpkin as myself can put it together, but, it was frustrating and time consuming. So this got me to thinking about some of the items that you guys/girls may have purchased in the past that turned out to be a nightmare to assemble. Do any of you want to share your experience?

IKEA!! people bring their stuff that they have bought at Ikea to me so that I can assemble it for them.This is after they have had a crack at it,lost the instructions & some of the parts & are totally frustrated.I have always managed to finish them off but not without turning the air blue with my cussing & swearing.LOL.

One thing is good there,You can get a full breakfast for $2.95.We have had them here about 20 years now.Most of the stuff the sell looks like a million bucks but it's made cheaply in China.Swedish designers,Chinese manufacturers & suckers for assemblers!LOL

We have an IKEA here in a burb of Detroit. People come from miles around to see it.They have good Swedeish Meatballs in their cafeteria .

That's a long time. Do you mind if I ask what you assembled? I'm curious because I've been told that I should work in a factory because I'm not a people pleaser... Screw them! LOL

Traffic control stuff. The mechanics you see at an intersection (the lights) and the computers that run them...I wired the cabinets you see on the corners.....and right, screw them......

Years ago,when in H.S., my bro assembled a Heath Kit tuner and amplifier. He bought woofers and tweeters and built and stained the cabinets for them.

Easier than an old computer to assemble. Before computers there were tubes and repairing or making them was a chore that looked like a job for kids forever..... until things went solid state with all those instrument design challenges. Back then we had to make things simple, easy to work on and understandable so it could be repaired. Otherwise it was a waste of money...break it and it's trash was the state of the art....then. The experience of that made it worth while.

Anything made in China requiring assembly with the help of Chinese assembly instructions written by illiterate Asian engineers who can't draw in 3D if their lives depended on it. Gas BBQ's top the list.

Three-dimensional thinking is a skill that you must enforce into your own thinking as a child and use through-out your life and pass on to your own children after you have played and worked this skill in your own childhood. Those "born-with" such acquired skills and awakened into their application early-on, have clearly demonstrated their heritage in many wonderful ways. We all have many such gifts and that must be exercised to bloom and carry-on.

I have a neighbour that i go to for anything that needs to be assembled,i give him a few dollars for his trouble and another neighbour that helps with problems with my computer.

LOL: Reminds me of so many years ago when my eldest daughter was in college and she bought us a new barbecue. We were away for the weekend and she took both days assembling it.

On my second marriage now. First one lasted 7 years(She couldn't stay off of dope, had to take 2 young kids away) This marriage now is lasting up to 14 years and still growing !!

Everything that comes needs to be assembled. We bought a nice Queen bed sometime ago, luckily for us the men who delivered it assembled it too, phew! They also assembled the other furniture that came with it.

I am pretty handy but not reading the instrutions on the tramopline a few years ago cost me a couple of hours... you have to put that mat on the way it tells you or it will never go on... Silly me.

Doing anything according to the diagram, is impossible for me. It never makes sense no matter how many times I try to follow the simple instructions! I can't even find "the paper jam" on a photo copier! I'm pathetic! :(

A couple of years ago, I, alone, assembled a large fireplace style heater for my mom. It is nearly 5 feet tall and at least 6 feet wide, with a great mantle. It fit right under the flat screen TV I helped mount to the wall. :D

I worked on assembling a pocket watch someone had disassembled into a small box. It took about ten days because I had no experience and I could keep it if I put it together and make it work. A couple of parts required replacement and I only started to work on it when I got a little book on how the mechanism works. The watch was a Walthum Vanguard Pocket watch and had a temperature compensator i the mechanics. I sold it some years back for $2500.00. They cost over $5000.00 now.
