How about this one? A gecko saved it's mate from a snake.Unable to watch it's mate die, it launched an attack until the snake released it's fellow gecko.

The things we'll do for love...

Yes, they are now saying that animals have more intuition and empathy. They are evolving.

I think it's always been there. People are only just now opening their eyes to it. (*~*)

I have seen many things working with animals.  An Oscar lost it's mate and for two days that fish lay it's body over the body of it's mate.  I could not take the dead fish away and I didn't out of respect.  The fish finally got up and let me take it's mate away.  It took six months and that fish died as well.  It didn't matter what I did to make that fish happy.  That fish lost it's mate.

    Poor thing.

It was very sad. Oscars are thought to be as smart as dogs in the fish world. Kurt Cobain was wrong. A fish does have feelings.

Very sad, animals, and fish, can be more loyal to each other, than humans. Says alot for us.!

I cared for two amazing Oscars who were gloriously happy to interact, especially when stocking the goldfish tank! They seemed to know they were funny and would sort of follow us as we moved back and forth in the room pretending to ignore them.I've also had Paku fish that were just as endearing!I love fish too!

Lindilou; I like Pacu as well... and Puffers and Cowfish and Boxfish and Catfish and Australian Rainbows and Butterfly Rams and and and... I love fish.

I knew I wasn't imagining things. I could've sworn there were 2 different geckos in the Geico commercial. Due to the attack, the other one is still out of commission. Thanks!

Birds are pretty smart also.  Once I saw a cat on branch of a tree. Cat caught small bird flying close by. A second small bird came and flew close to the  cat. The cat thought it was smart, dived for second bird also, but in doing so, he let go of first bird, Both birds got away.   There is morel to this story,   Dont be greedy. lol

Cool, the survival of the fittist.

I talk with all manner of creature. They are all expressive of the love of their origin and life. Everything has a story to tell about their origin and experience. I was surprised no one told me about  that when I was a child and more surprised that so many other could not talk openly with their pets.
