The Preraffaelites were a group of british painters in the 19th century. They are known for their retrospective aesthetic values: they sustained that all art of the modern era (meaning from the Renaissance onwards) was flawed, and tried to recreate the aesthetics of medieval art through their works. To the general public, they may seem memorable for the female beauty ideal that many of their paintings display: long and undulated hair, ivory skin, swan neck, long nose and softly traced, red lips.
