      With a spectrophotometer, it measure the greatest amount of pressure exerted by the heart against the walls of the vessels and the least amount of pressure exerted...(thank God for Spell Check...)

        Attach the cuo and pump until you no longer hear any heart beats with your stethoscope. Release the valve and listen for the first heartbeat, that's your systolic pressure, continue down until you don't hear a sound and that is you dystolic pressure....

            thanks west there is nothing wrong in the name Peter (what about Peter the great)! anyway back to your comment we have home and we are back at the vet saturday am he will have hi cathfater removed and hope he can pee on his own he is our darlin little man and he has been through soooo much he was a stray and he lived out side in a dog kennle we got for him as we couldnt let him in at the time due our Thomas who had cancer and he wasnt expected to live more than a couple of months and he lived more than two years anyway we let him in when thomas was put to sleep he then came with a skin problem and he had a infected eye which later had to be removed and now this he is a little brave man but what ever happens he has had two good years of being totaly spoilt thank for your concern @west-bus xxxx

                Yes I have one of those moniters,they are very good and accurate.
