    The thinker!
    Poppy3

Yes whovin sure looks likes "the thinker".
    lambshank

looks similar to someone I work with, except more intelligent

i think dolphins are right up there.

    Chimpanzee

WOMAN is the most intelligent.  They are masters of disguise.
    Some look like pigs;  lots of them are mistaken for a cow;
    some act like bitches;
there are chicks, foxes, and cougars
     others are catty,
    some eat like birds,
    some act like jackasses,
    many are "aunts",
    there are nags and
    those who laugh like hyenas,
and there are mother hens and Mother Goose.
Many of them are quite "deer",
some are quiet as a mouse,
others are as clumsy as a bull in a china shop.
and most protect their children with the ferocity of a lion.
Few  know when to clam up and others are just plain crabby.
and then there are those who fish for compliments.
There are a few who are as busy as a bee,
And some have dispositions as prickly as a porcuine.
    Some are wiggle worms and others are squirrelly;
Beware of the ones who are snakes in the grass,
OK, I'm done....you all get the idea.  Masters of disguise.  Woman.   Smartest animal on earth.

    Bob/PKB

Don...: Certainly I left out alot of comparisons. Hoping you don't consider any of the sweethearts here jackasses!

roddy: we love you, too. Probably.

    I think A Dolphin!

Most intelligent animal- I think humans guess they are. But different species probably think they are smarter than some of us.

    Poppy3

Most humans think they are smartest - are they?
    lambshank

Clu most animals only kill to survive, only man kills for pleasure, not that smart are we?

A cat... for these reasons.... they get use to do thier hunting (shopping), they get us to clean thiear litter box, they sleep all day while we work, they they have trained us the pet them the way they want to be petted.... Humans are simple.

    sunnyB

I agree My cats have me just where they want me.

Cockroach, it has outsmarted man for 150 million years..  And it was already here 4 billion years before we showed up.. Unchanged.  It knows the secrets of life and longevity that man can only dream of..

Dogs are second..  The poodle dog is smart. Smarter than most of its masters, We had a poodle dog, he was smarter than both of us, he ran away.. :)

    hummingbird

    lambshank

Zorro, why a hummingbird, I don't know anything about them, we don't have them here
    zorro

They dont stay around for cold weather. They go south. Where you located. The migration is about over here in Texas. Well atleast i have not seen any in last week. They left early this year. Big drought here. I enjoy feeding them by hand. When they get brave enough. Rescued a young one i found on ground after a hail storm. Nursed it back for two days with some hummingbird liquid feed. When i released it , it came back and set on my lawn chair next to me for about three minutes then left. That was really something.
    itsmee

Zorro, I loved your humming bird story. We have our feeding station attached to the roof by wires. It sat there constantly throughout the summer. My husband says it's a male but I don't know how he could tell. They're so quick and fast. (Ha)
Your humming bird story would make a beautiful illustrated childrens' book. I read it to my husband and my voice choked up with emotion at the last two sentences.
I will learn more about them.
    zorro

The stations do need to be changed every two weeks for mold growth

Scientists say that of all the animals dogs have thought processes that most resemble our own. Whether that makes them intelligent is anybody's guess.

Eggplant,I really did have a smart chook, love the pic
    eggplant

Chooks have empathy and love. All birds share this trait. They are smarter than dogs and they are third down on the list of intelligence from mankind. So, how do you like that? A university in Australia did a lot of research into this and that was the result. If birds are in a large flock, they do not show intelligence, but if they are in small groups, their intelligence shines through.
    itsmee

Third down the list from mankind ??! Empathy? Love? Oh, I would never ever have guessed it.
Lovely big chook you sent us, eggplant.

    Parrot

Dolphins and African Parrots , I saw a African Parrot on pbs that had then intelligence of a 3yr old child.

not really an animal, but my guess is bacteria: they will inherit the earth

    itsmee

Everything is as it should be. : )

"Man", but unfortunately, his/"her" actions often speak otherwise.

    lambshank

your so right, a shame we don't use our intelligence in a more intelligent way

This has just got to be my favorite thread. I didn't get around to thumbs up everyone because it takes my computer so long to make the TU.

Per your e-mail about your comments being missing from this thread, I do believe they are all here.
    itsmee

It looks good to me. Thank you. Maybe I was reading with my eyes closed? : )

I would say that all animals have an equal amount of intelligence, enough for them to survive in their natural habitat.

    No, me.......

I want people to know who I am and I thought maybe they wouldn't.

I guess dogs are the smartest. Annie, our Golden, was incredible. I've missed her for about twenty years. Hector, our black lab, got all A's.

I've wanted a big poodle almost all my life. Vinny, I'm sorry your poodle ran away. I bet someone snatched him up and gave him a good home. Grrrrrrrr.

Lost his poodle sorry to hear that.did Vinny change his name to "Douglas that is a real name ,also a joke hope vinny takes it in good fun.

Octopus.  They don't imprint their young.  If they did, they would take over the world :D

my first thought is dog, particularly the border collie.Weve got a GSD now and hes pretty smart but my collie wouldve knocked him into a cocked hat. Also some cats(not my present one unless all life means is sleeping, eating and biting that hand thats fed you!).My old cat came to us as a stray originally.hed not been hanging around above a few weeks when one night he was a no show(hed been coming in and eating etc  as if he already owned us)When he did come in late he was not very well at all,vet thought he may have been kicked or a slight tap on the road.I am just SO GLAD he had the common sense to come back to the people whod been looking after him.It was then we stopped advertising him as found and decided to keep him.
