Mine was a Dodge Colt...I bought it so I could get to and from University...it cost me $8000.00 and I drove it until everything fell apart around it's little Mitsubishi engine.  That was a great little car.

    Tommyh

My daughter had one of those.
Out here they called them the Mitsubishi colt 45.
You're right about them falling apart around the engine.I think that was the only good part in them.

    Tommyh

They were an interesting little vehicle.I've seen the one on Only fools & horses. We didn't get them out here .I would like to know more about them.
    nomdeplume

Tommyh, you can get some info on Wikipedia about Reliants which ceased trading in 2002.
Mine was an alloy bodied model with a 750cc side-valve engine, so was older than the model seen on TV which had a glassfibre body and an alloy OHV engine.

A 1964 Chevy, super sport, ragtop, bucket seats, got it in 1972,but it sat in our driveway for awhile my mom would'nt let me drive it until I had insurance on it and my older brother made sure I did'nt sneak it out while mom was working, which I would have done.

Oh the memories I have of Austins!
I had an A40 pickup & an A50 when I was a kid,Good little cars but a bugger to work on.
    Maz

Yes the A40 / A60 pickups were quite popular in the UK at the time with many builders owning one. I did also have an A60 van in blue later for work. Came with a crank handle too! Built like a brick outhouse.

We always envied the American Kids cars. There weren't that many of them available over here & if they were there wasn't the money to buy them.Plus the fact that they were big gas guzzlers so we stuck to the cheap little British cars.Morris,Austin,Vauxhall,Triumph,Vanguard.

1938 Powder blue Morris 8 hp.Tourer (Rag top).

Wouldn't pull the skin off a custard pudding but it got me around.

Cost 20 Pounds,(we had pounds in Aust.back then).

    I was 14 years old.

A nice, black, shiny chevrolet (a long one). Beautiful to drive.

Great little motor - would be worth a bit now.

My first real car? A 1967 Chevy Impala Super Sport Convertible with Craigor (SP?) mags and wide wheels in back and glass packs.....It roared!   (oh, and fire engine red.....)

1970 BUICK SKYLARK  (Don't be jealous!) LOL

    Lime-green  Ford Pinto.

    ClevelandRick

Well someone had to own them.
    digger

True enough but back then,bell-bottoms were cool too.;-)
    ClevelandRick

    Yes indeed...

In 1971 I bought a 1967 Olds Delmont 88.  It was a gas gussler.  Just before the oil embargo started!   Now I really watch what I drive.

my first car was a beautiful 2002 540 I bmw with a sunroof it was silver

My First car was a 1961 Hillman Husky  cost me £280 in 1964. I can remember when I was a kid standing at my gate watching the big American Convertables going by and dreaming of having one oneday, we lived about 15 miles from the American Air Base, Wethersfield Essex. UK.

Don't laugh, my fiirst car was a green, 1949 Austin A40, which set me back 100 aust. pounds. It was a typical english car, very heavy body with a sewing machine engine. This was in 1965. Thank God they don't build them like that anymore.

My first car at the age of seventeen was a brand new 1968 GTO with a 400 motor, 4 speed, 4:11 posi.  Mother co-signed the loan but I did pay it off. Kept blowing the rear in it, the good old bad days.

It was a very old hillman minx, that used to belong to a black wrestler ,called criss ackabu,{did it move}only on a good day,
