It's the same in Australia, the politicians and unionists are so corrupt. It's endemic in all countries. Julia is a liar and power hungry. She'd slit your throat to stay in power.

The men you named aren't so rotten. It took a lot of education to get to where they are, they are pretty damned smart. You don't have to agree with every statement but to open your mind to all of them. I only voted for one of the guys you named....

 Politicians are the ones who sit in the driver's seat of making the laws we have to live by.  There is a group called "The Bildenberg Group" (I think), which started YEARS ago.  They are behind the Federal Reserve, and they are behind every major politician who wields any real power.  Many of the "big shots" today are part of that group. 
No matter, I think the Pols have become drunk with power and all they really see is how they are going to get their next big cash cow or whatever perk is offered by lobbyists to cast a vote in a certain way.   They are greedy and have no morals or scruples.  The notion that they were elected to serve their constituents (US!) falls out of the picture as soon as they hit their cushy offices.  Their benefits are outrageous and are paid for by the taxpayer.  AND, they keep voting themselves increases regularly. 
Personally, I think every elected official should immediately take at least a 30% pay cut, and all those benefits should be stopped, or at least cut to match what is comparable to private sector. 
We have gone for months without a budget in our state and national government.  Those people did not do their jobs; they should be terminated; at the very least, they should receive no compensation until they DO their jobs. 
Many employees of the state of California are receiving IOUs in lieu of paychecks.  Guess what!  Those IOUs can't be passed along to the mortgage company, pay an auto loan, utilities, food, or anything else.  Those people are losing their homes because our elected officials don't do their jobs properly.

Well, the question was why.......MONEY  would be my answer.  MONEY and POWER

Well when talking about presidents, we don't choose who runs, we only choose who wins. and even that is debatable.  We need politicians, their job is an honorable one but there are so many corrupt politicians that are placed there by big money and in turn they work for their campaign investors, leaving common folk out of the equation.. 

We need to find people who will not let corruption inflenze them.  Find this kind of person or step in and do the job!!

Because rotten people voted for them.
