    The vertex of the function f(x) = x^2 + 4x - 5      :

    f(x) = (x+5)(x-1)

    x(vertex) = -4/2 = -2    -->     y(vertex) = (-2)^2 + 4(-2) - 5 =  -9

    vertex:  (-2,-9)
