Might not be a temper tantrum,could be something affecting his life that he is not coping with.This sort of out burst from a 13 year old tells me something is wrong.Reaching puberty can throw his emotions about, and his hormones would be all over the place,he needs to talk to some one about his feelings.

I see that weekly with a 15 and 17 year old when they don't get their way or what they want. Maybe not to the extreme you might be talking about. More like punching things and slamming doors and swearing at me. I told my son the other day that the next time the door slams he is going to come home to the hinges removed and no door until he can figure out how to control himself.It's weekly because I am a stubborn parent and giving in to bad behavior is a mistake.pick your battles is a common thought for me these days.
