During the spring and autumn seasons, copperheads hunt mainly at day time because the night's temperatures are too low for them to be active. At the summer, copperheads change their hunting activity from day-time to night-time hunting. By doing this, copperheads avoid the day-time heat and increase their chances of capturing prey since rodents and amphibians are more active at night.
