There are about 6.6 million American citizens living outside the United States. According to the foreign government reports there are about 250,000 U.S citizens living in Canada and about 250,000 U.S citizens living in Canada. Despite the missing data the belief is that there are also many U.S citizens living in Australia, UK and Germany.

The Census bureau does not count people iving overseas. The US. is the only country that taxes income from people living overseas and in canada.Many Americans have given up theire cititzenship for that reason and many have simply fallen off the radar. Healthcare and retirement are often the reason Americans live abroad. An estimated 6.6 million people. Most of them are living in Europe, like France, Germany and UK.

I remember in the 50s when I was a kid, standing at our gate watching the big American cars drive by dreaming that I might own one one day. We had an Air base about 10 miles away, Wethersfield Essex.

We don't have so many American citizens living in the UK these days, we did back in the 50s and 60s when we had alot of USAF bases, expecially around here (East Anglia).
