as an atheist, let's see how pure i am -
ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' (not applicable)
TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' (I have quiet a few sculptures! does that count against me?)
THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.' (not applicable)
FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.' (Its a day off, and I love a day of chillin out with the family and friends)
FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.' (always have done)
SIX: 'You shall not murder.' (never have and never will!)
SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' (never have and never will!)
EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' (never have and never will!)
NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' (never have and never will!)
TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.' (never have and never will! I have all that i need and want!)
an 8/10 (not to sure about the sculptures) so you could say 7.5/10 if it makes you feel better

I am a Christain and I have broken everyone of them. The law was given by God to show us our sins. God said that if you break even one you have broken the entire law which wage is spiritual and physical death. Jesus nailed the law to His cross and it no longer has power to condemn for those who trust and believe in Him.
Why does everyone eventually die?? Answer, sin.

Grit, I love Australia and it's people, they just tell it like it is, that's a good thing in my book. I saw the first woman Prime minister visited congress the other day, she seemed very reassuring about our countries ties.

One: Putting anything before God, your car, your spouse, etc. etc. (applicable)
Two: self explanatory, if you don't worship, adore, God what do you worship? (applicable)
Three: Have you ever said godamnit? Jesus! etc. (applicable) I can continue, but I won't.
The people of Israel were given a choice to have law or grace, they chose law, that is why the world needed Jesus.
Everyone falls short, like friendofGod said, sin is like a sheet of glass, if you break one, you break them all.
Grit your comments are always derogatory when it comes to Religion or God, so what are you trying to do mock God?
While you were reading the commandments maybe you should look under this topic:God's word says that, I will not be mocked, so you may want to be careful of who you make fun of?

Nobody but Nobody and I mean nobody has ever kept the tenth commandment. We all fall short of that.
A bit of background.
Read it again EX 20 and you will see that it applies to the the Nation of Israel who had just been rescued from slavery in Egypt. Egypt was a land full of strange gods and idols. People who believe themselves to be Christians use the commandments it as a guide for daily living.
As a professing atheist you are more or less a law unto yourself and not in any covenant relationship with your maker. So sooner or later you grow old and die and that is it. No hope for the future, no resurrection from the dead or for any person you have influenced. So in fact that makes you an accessory to murder.
How dare you? You say or words to that effect possibly with expletives. But maybe not.
Quite simple Because I am in a covenant relationship with my maker I am obliged to point it out.

I believe you both have it wrong. People who judge other people are guilty of wickedness because you are judging. the bible citation you wrote does not mean anything more than someone who is doing wrong not someone who claims they do not believe. As long as people do good and learn from there mistakes who is to tell them any different. Gods teachings simply put is to treat others with respect,help others and do not be greedy. If you believe in God then you know better and you have learned or are learning Gods teachings. It does not mean that the non believer is going to hell.
you really don't get what it is to be an atheist! its not that I am a law unto myself! i stick to normal human conventions. I am nice to just about everyone, but i do like to get to the gist of things!
as for warning me about "the pit"? sorry mate but the whole christian faith is based on veiled threats! "jesus loves you, but if you don't love him back you are gonna burn in agony for eternity"!!!

But very interesting work is currently being done on telomeres! (a region of repetitive DNA at the end of a chromosome, which protects the end of the chromosome from deterioration) so in the future things may be different :-)
