    old light switches

    i live in a house built in 1955 & i was wondering we have pushbutton switches is there a way to get replacements for these or would it be better to put in all new modern switches

    there not made anymore, if you want to go back to original buttons, try ebay

    also be very careful with wiring it,s probably paper wrapped or asbestos wrapped and once it starts peeling or cracking it will work it,s way out of your outlet box then shorts start happening and fires. good luck electrician for 37 yrs

    I don't believe the button types are made anymore. If you can, I would replace them and have the wiring checked at the same time.
