    do dendrobium orchids secrete a sticky liquid. Why?

    It is sugar; sucrose. Many orchids produce this sticky substance. I imagine it entices insects that help the plant do whatever it needs to do to mature or reproduce. I couldn't really find any information concerning the "why" part of your question.
