Tart Cherry Juice Reduces Pain Sensitivity
Many studies show that tart cherries decrease a body’s pain sensitivity. The highest amount of tart cherry juice is as effective as 2 pills from over the counter. There was a study conducted in 2009 to find out how tart cherry juice impacted pain. The subjects of this study were several athletes. Each participant had to drink 10.5 ounces of cherry juice twice daily for a week. On the day of competing, they drank it every 8 hours. Following the competition, the athletes weren’t in as much pain as usual and their muscles recovered much faster than when not drinking the cherry juice. Now, they could have taken NSAIDS to decrease the soreness but a lot of these have various side effects that aren’t pleasant. Tart cherry juice doesn’t have any bad side effects.
