    Do you believe in abortion?

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said, 'Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 year old and I'm pregnant again. I don't want kids so close together. So the doctor said, 'OK and what do you want me to do?' She said, 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.' The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady, 'I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.' She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request. Then he continued, 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms. The lady was horrified and said, 'No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child! 'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.' The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point. He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same! If you agree, please SHARE. Together we can help save precious lives! "Love says I sacrifice myself for the good of the other person. Abortion says I sacrifice the other person for the good of myself..." Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for the good of sinners!

    That's perfect love!

I think I see why some get miffed at your questions and answers. You have an excellent question that can stimulate an outstanding discussion. Your example is well done. MY problem is that I feel condemned for having an opinion that differs from the one that you are advocating. If I ask a question, I am not prone to suggest an answer. HOWEVER, you do indicate that you only want to hear from people who agree with you. I apologize for answering this question. You did not solicit a response from me and I intruded on your forum. It won't happen again. This is the kind of question I would TD as it is exclusive. Only those who agree with you are invited into the fold. Oddly enough, you toss Jesus into the mix....isn't He the same one who welcomed into HIS fold the prostitutes and tax collectors and the sinner who was crucified next to Him? Hmmmmm.

Bob, all questions on this forum are open to anyone who wants to respond. No one can regulate a question and say only these people can reply and no one else. The question would be removed if it became exclusive to only some and not the rest. You do not have to apologize for responding to this.
    Bob/PKB

Thank you, Colleen. I hope that Randy understands the concept of QA and stops the online demonstrations. If I want people finding fault with me, all I have to do is call my mom or sister.

After looking at his post again, I have to say I do not believe he was making this question specific to only those who agree. I think he was just saying, if you agree with the story, please share it. I should have taken the time last night to note that. I know that it is unlike Randy to think he could say "they can answer but you can't". He is pushing his religious belief but he is not saying everyone has to believe. His perspective of abortion comes from his religious beliefs that life begins at conception. This is really not pushing his religion. Not everyone who is against abortion for the same reason as Randy is Christian. Randy just chose to use Jesus as a way to solidify the point. This is his interpretation of Jesus.

Thank you Colleen for clarifying this for me, I believe you do understand my question.
I do welcome all response, but I would also like your reason.
I don't think anyone is going to hell if they had an abortion, we all have made mistakes and need forgiven.
    Bob/PKB

Randy, thank you for accepting my response to your question. Please know that I respect you and admire the faith and love that you have for Christ. We do have some differences in interpretation, but our basic belief seems to jive. Again, this was an excellent question.

Your position was well put, Randy.

This is a very touchy subject, but I myself I do not believe in abortion!!My husband and I adopted a baby that had a condition that was going to kill him no matter what Doctors could do, but that did not matter to us we still adopted him. His life span was predicted to be about 3months but he lived for nine. His mother was going to abort him but someone told her not to so she did not . If she had then this child would have not had the chance to touch as many lives as he did, he was an angel on earth and when the time came he just went to sleep and all was well the spirit of God was so strong in the room that day that thier is no words to explain ..You would have had to been there.. But anyway I fell on my knees at his funeral and thanked God that his mother chose life , because he was such an instrument of love and careing and LIFE that I dont know how my life would have been without him!!!!!

You have made my point, Thank you.

No  I have lost two babies through miscarrage I know now that I was not ready to have them as at this time I was in a dark place and I think God knew this and this is the only way that I could have coped with thinking that God knows best! I know there is a lot of peolpe who wont agree with me on this subject, and I have always said that babys are a gift from GOD I

    Bob/PKB

Babies are a gift from God. A husband, wife, or domestic partner is a gift from God. All love is a gift from God.
Your gifts and blessing are many, melandrupert, and I know God has many more planned for you. That you have chosen not to "blame" God for your loss tells me so much about you. Praying that God will bless you with a healthy baby in His time (and that it will be soon!)
    melandrupert

Thank you so much Bob/PBK for your kind words and yes I love what you said that husband and wife are from God you are of true wisdom thank you again xxx mel

No i do not, i myself have had 3 of them - please try not to judge that, i was young and stupid. But how much i regret them no one will ever know. I have had 2 misscarriages since and i cant help but wonder if its karma for having those abortions. I pray to god every night and thank him that these babies chose me to be their mother and i hope they choose to come back to me at a better time. I have a beautiful 7 year old son and i am so ever grateful that i have him.

    Bob/PKB

kimba....me, too...3 also. It's not so much a problem what others think of us as it is what we think of ourselves.
    Headless Man

I do believe these children will be in heaven.

It believe it is a real thing... No I dont believe it is birth control...

There are viable medical reasons for an abortion, and I beleive that should be a disussion that the mother father and doctor make. I dont think that the government have any rights to restrict medical treatment.

I was blessed that God saw fit not to have me make this choice. My first child was carried to 28 weeks with a partial tubal pregnacy... No one knew until I went into labor at 28 weeks. If we had known I would have had to make that disission...I get so sick when I see bumper stickers telling moms that they are murderers for having to make the hardest disission in the world... I truly dont think abortion is birth control. I dont believe in a womans "right " to terminate an "unwanted' or "unplanned" preganancy... But I think there should be more consideration for mother who die inside a little every day because of the choice they had to make.

    Headless Man

When a good medical decision is made, I have no problem.
The life of a women is more important than the possible life of a child.
    Much prayer should be included.
    mycatsmom

Jenn, it's not birth control, but let's face it---some women use it for retro-active birth control

No  I am 100 percent pro-life GOD gave the human race the power  of choice  you can have you're child and raise it or  not have the child but there  is an alternative  put the child up for adaption

Surely there is a great demand for healthy babies from women who cannot conceive, so why choose abortion over adoption?

I remember when abortion became legalised in the UK in 1967. I believe it was introduced to stop illegal abortion which caused the deaths of many women.

Here in the Unites States there is a great demand for parents for the unwanted children sitting in adoption agencies. This is the reason some states have begun allowing homosexuals to adopt. They need people to take these unwanted babies and children.

    no

I believe in the right for women to have abortions. Quaint story but it does not change my mind. I still do not believe life begins at conception. Didn't we just have this debate less than a month ago?

    Headless Man

Your allowed to have your opinion, free will a gift from God.

No, I would not choose abortion for myself either. But if she had chosen not to cary me to delivery for whatever reason, I would not condemn her for that even if she were mistaken in her decision. Her choice is what matters. Happily, I  survived birth but my youth was in a place where people, adults and children were routinely killed and then autopsied by doctors who would attempt to determine the cause of death without knowing how the person died. This is called science? The Eugenics war goes on by other names, but it is just as bloody as ever. Abortion is a tiny part of a significantly larger nightmare that no one seems remotely interested in considering.

    Headless Man

Sin is sin and all need forgiveness.
    mycatsmom

isn't the only reason people are autopsied is that it's b/c no one knows how he died ?
    robertgrist

MCM In the USA in 1950’s prisoners and children were given drugs and or subjected to ‘treatment’ that would kill them. The bodies were autopsied without knowing the “Cause of death” that would later be corrected or restudied to pinpoint the cause. The German death camps did the same thing and we brought one here and did the same thing.

I believe in abortion rights and no one should ever choose to do so......

    Headless Man

I agree but what rights do the babies have.
    jhharlan

None, that's why no one should choose abortion. I believe in the right to choose, that's all...
    jhharlan

    But good analogy, your story...
    mycatsmom

Randy, that's what I always say in the debate about ab. I bring up the child's rights.

I believe in abortion.  I have experienced it, do not advocate or recommend or endorse it. Mine definitely were all about me.
My first son was born at 28 weeks; my second had the same DUE DATE for the following year.  He was born three weeks early following a month of bed rest. I was 34 and 35 when those babies were born.
At 38, I had my third son.  My other sons were 2 1/2 and 3 1/2.  When I learned of the third pregnancy, I told my husband that if there were serious problems with the baby (that we would learn from the amnio), I would choose to not have the child.  I considered myself pro-life;  I did not want to compromise the time and attention the existing children "should" receive because the youngest one was special needs.  PRO LIFE for the lives that already walked the earth (don't want to get into a discussion of when life begins here. That is a question that can be asked and answered separately).  (Also, no discussion of how the older two may have benefitted from a special needs sibling).
We were definitely blessed to have our third son born healthy and "normal".
I have infinite respect, admiration, and awe of parents who bring a special needs child into the world knowing they will have to accommodate those needs.  I am not that good a person.

    melandrupert

I respect your belives Bob well done for being honest thank you for the lovely writing xxxx

no absolutly not.. it seems to me the ones who made them decisions were already born..

No I do not agree with abortion, I beleive that an unborn  life is not ours to do away with. There are thousands of people who can not have children and would love to adopt a child, so these babies would not be unwanted.

I do not believe in abortion as a form of birth control in the USA. In other countries, where birth control is not an option, and you have to watch your child slowly starve a horrible painful death.......There are many  reasons to have an abortion, other than convenience.

I am pro-life. I am also not closed minded to other individual choices. It would be nice if the baby was placed up for adoption, that doesn't seem to be a healthy choice for many women around the world either. It is a global issue, and a complex one.

    Headless Man

You should have the choice to not have sex.
    Daisy!

humans are sexual beings. It is our nature.
That would be like telling a fish not to swim.
Refusing to have sex all your life is against nature and very dysfunctional. There are other ways, we need to get every woman/man that information/education and product.

I think anyone thinking about an abortion should have to witness one (on film).  Like the film we had to see in driver's training!  They should have to see what happens. It should be part of sex ed.   Then maybe they would choose adoption instead.  Yes, I believe in birth control but not this way.

i dont believe in abortion i think that  if you think your mature enough to have sex you can deal with the consequences unless something really bad happened like you were rapped ........ other than that its wrong.

    Headless Man

Your old enough to have a baby way before your old enough to have sex, there is the problem.
A baby should not be the consequences of sex but the consequences of love.

I don't judge a woman for having an abortion, and I've known some very well who had one. But, I have some alliances to the fetus. First of all, a fetus can and does feel pain. When they touch him with a needle ultra sound, he  recoils in pain.  Fetuses can suck their thumb adn yawn.   Now for the gross part, An abortion is done by tearing the fetus limb from limb by a suction device.  That's a horrible, tortureous way to die---one that no child deserves, or should receive.

    Headless Man

Very true, how can anyone be apart of this process?

No, I don't agree with it.

I am pro-life. I have suffered from guilt  for  most of my adult life over this issue. I convinced my then 19 year old naive wife to abort a pregnancy. I was selfish and did so only to make my life situation less complicated. My wife loved me enough not to question my decision. I wish she had not allowed me to take control of her body and resumed with the pregnancy. I have prayed for forgiveness all my adult life for this terrible thing I have done. We discussed this only one time during our marriage, and an old wound was opened. It was the only time I saw the look of hate aimed towards me from my wife. I'll never forget that look.

    Headless Man

    God will forgive.....

Randy Palmer  ---  I think I love you.  Such a way to tell it.  Makes it so real.  Thank you!!!!!

I do believe these children will be in heaven, what I'm concerned with is what the women go through and what other options they were given.

There are all kinds of stories like the one above pro and con to abortion but I think we can all agree that it should not be used as a means of birth control and only after all other choices have been ruled out.

I just don't believe that's the case now.

    Colleen

I can agree with all this. As long as abortion remains a legal choice. I'd rather not go back to the days of teenage girls dying horrible and painful deaths because they sought out a butcher to perform the abortion due to abortions being illegal. I know some say a fetus feels the pain of "torn apart" at so many weeks but a fetus's mental facilities are not fully functional so how much does it recognize pain compared to a teen who knows pain and might know if for days before she dies.
    Headless Man

The problem is as we all know is teenage girls shouldn't be having sex, or anyone without protection who is not ready to take the responsibly of raising a child.
I also might add married so that child can have a father figure.

"The problem is as we all know is teenage girls shouldn't be having sex"

....and we all know a lot of them do and some can not cope nor do they have the support of their family. Some are afraid of being found out. You can not control the actions of all people in this country. It happens and abortion needs to remain legal even if to save a 12 year old from going to a hack who does abortions with a coat hanger.
    Headless Man

I would say if my girls became pregnant at 12 I would be raising the child but I raised them to know better with Gods help.
One is married with 3 beautiful kids and one although bipolar and sexual active is now 25 and childless.

Well it's too bad you can't force the rest of the word to be like yourself or your kids. Even those who believe in your God.
    Headless Man

Yes it is to bad, but God has given free will.
    Daisy!

This is true! I agree 100%

ILL NEVER HAVE ONE WILL YOU.

    Headless Man

    Not me.......

The story is not complete.... The woman dose  not cope with her situation, she has the second child, , the doctor ....long gone now after he made his opinion known, sadly she has become clinically depressed,, she takes her own life as well as the two childtren she can not care for....3 lives ended. The doctor was neglegent in offering her any type of support, he no longer practices.

    Headless Man

If that was to happen, you could not blame the doctor who could not see her mental problems.
    Daisy!

The doctor can see her problem, her state of mind when he talk to her wasn't stable. She had an unrealistic reason to have an abortion to begin with. He should have sent her to mental health. Something was wrong with her thought process, and children were involved.
She went to the doctor for help, she wasn't going to get the help she requested. The doctor is train to see past her wants, to her real needs.
I know this was a statement to get people to think about abortion. It was one that brought up to many other issues. It's not so simple.

Yes, but only in cases of rape, incest, and when the life of the mother or child is endangered because of the pregnancy.

IT IS INHARENTLY (SPELL CHECK) HUMAN TO HAVE AUTOMENY OVER ONES BODY. REGARDLESS OF ANOTHER PERSON OR POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS MONEY MAKING MONOLITH. EG. CATHOLICS AND POPES WHO WOULD KILL MEN WOMEN WHO DIDNT EVEN HAVE ACHANCE TO BEAR CHILDREN OR IN LOTS OF CASES WHERE WITH CHILD AND NO ONE KNEW. AND THE INSTITUTION OF CHILD SLAVERY.  AND IAM A  CATHOLIC AND WALT DISNEY FANATIC

    Headless Man

The question was: Do you believe in abortion?
