in a coop in manhattan how do I figure out what I am responsible for fixing and what the building is responsible for (paying for) regarding plumbing issues.

There is a slow leak going into the apartment below mine. Evidently it has been going on for two years and the building never said a word to me. In the past five weeks the super has been calling me telling me it was my responsibility to open up shower wall to determine if leak is coming from the shower body. Now I'm being told that ;I should open up behind the sink to determine if the leak is there. My plumber told me that if it is in the walls they are responsible. In a conference call the super agreed and I was shocked. Plumbers are in the apartment now working on sink (my responsibility) and changing the Flushomitor which I don't even know if I am responsible for. Thank you.
