It is almost impossible to learn how to play golf by watching golfers, or videos, or reading tips and explanations in magazines.  You need to sign up for golf lessons, where you will get hands-on instructions, partake in the lessons yourself and then get out on a golf course, preferably with a good and very patient golfer.  It takes a long time, to even learn the basics.  Be patient with yourself as it is much, much more difficult than it looks. Oh, is it ever!!!

Not a substitute for the real thing, of "course", but based upon distances to the holes, clubs are selected automatically. you can learn the difference between a nine iron and an 8 iron, for example. If you're ever going to play one of these courses for real, you can see the layouts and hazards beforehand.
