    University of California, Berkeley
Founded in 1868, the University of California at Berkeley is the oldest public university in the state. With a total enrollment of over 35,000 undergraduate and graduate students at its campus 10 miles from San Francisco, the university is also one of the largest in the state. In 2010, U.S. News and World Report rated Berkeley 21st among all colleges and universities in the United States. The university's College of Natural Resources grants a bachelor's in forestry and natural resources with an emphasis in environmental law. In addition to classroom based studies, students in the program attend an eight-week Forestry Field Camp in the Sierra Nevadas each summer to learn first-hand about the habitats game wardens work to protect.
