If you are dumb enough to have a pitbull, you better carry the insurance. In Missouri ,there was a 250,000 judgement against a dog owner of a pit because the dog attacked a little girl playing in her own back yard. The dog owner had to sell everything they owned , including their kansas city chiefs season tickets to pay the judgement. The little girl lost her arm. In my opinion there are two types of people that own them, ignorant and gangsters.

Whoa, I take offense to that. One of my dogs is a 1/2 pit. My brother owns two pits. Out of the 3 dogs, they are all cuddle babies and love people.
People ruin the dogs. It's not dumb to own one unless you are a dog fighter.

My Leroy is 1/2 pit. I am none of the above. Nor is my brother who owns two of them. His dogs are well trained and big babies. Just like people, there are the good and the bad.

i think a dog is only as good as the owner, i have a few friends with pitbulls and their charataristics are a direct reflection of their owners, some dogs are great with people while others are not.. i think it be the equelevent of raising a kid , in a way that the parent or owner must be responciple for their actions... although kids can think more rationaly...

THERE HAVE BEEN TWO ATTACKS BY PIT BULLS IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS IN OZ, ONE LITTLE GIRL WAS SERIOUSLY MAULED WHILST THE OTHER 4 YEAR OLD GIRL WAS KILLED. N.S.W. HAS BANNED ALL PIT BULLS FROM THAT STATE AND THE REST OF THE STATES WILL FOLOW SUIT, WHICH I ENTIRELY AGREE WITH. THESE ANIMALS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BRED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Iknow it is noy entirely the dogs fault, but they are the one's that kill. ( sorry about the caps, i could not be blowed do it again.) P.S. both of these dogs were imported from the U.S. for sole pupose of fighting which is illegal in Australia.

If you own a pit bull you are assuming responsibility for that animal. In court , the breed will be proved to be a fighting dog. Which is the intended genetic background. . Usually the insurance company settles for 100,000 to 250,000 plus medical bills. Depending on the bodily damages. Some owners have gone to prison.

Yes I am back. No I not own a pitbull terrior - I did have a dog - just love them - he belonged to an old lady who died - a Manchester Terrier who had a rare disease - cost a fortune. However, I live in a bad part of London called Hackney and when I took him to the park I was afraid if dogs attacked him.
Here there are bad people who own pitball terrieres but I am of the firm believe that visciousness in a dog is not down to the dog but down to the owners they use dogs as a protection and make sure they frighten people and train them to do so - what very bad people they are - not the dogs, such as shame what cowards these people are they use the dogs to feel and look so big whereas they are little nobodies.

Certain towns now require that owners carry insurance on their pit bulls. My brother in law has the mellowest pit bull I've ever seen. She is a sweetheart, but the breed does have a reputation for becoming violent. Demand drives the market for these animals. Perhaps another breed of dog should be considered when purchasing a dog. One has to ask, why do people own this breed of dog, many people fear them, is that why they buy them?

It is called responsibility! Just like driving a car, you need to take and pay your fair share in insurance. If you refuse to pay, you do not legally drive a car. Way up on that list, you may imagine are the Pits, surprisingly, Cocker Spaniels are also on the lists, as they have records of biting people. So, this is based on statistics. Like male drivers under age 25 paying higher rates than females under 25, the statistics prove who the greater risk group is, the male under 25.

I can see you will have to get the experience i did, sitting on a jury about a pitbull attack , several years ago. The dog owner said the same weak lame excuse as you did. Just made it worse for owner. Its too bad we just find guilty verdict. I wish we could have dished out the penalty.

i am new and just saw an opinion here that makes me sick to my stomach. Who ever colleen is has not got a lick of sense. My granddaughter was severely and permantly injured by one of your so called lovable pit bulls. Until you have been experienced the dog brutally attack you know nothing. You give horrible advice and should not be giving any advice about this to anyone. The family that owned the two pitbulls that attacked my granddaughter will forever be paying the price for it. She was just riding her bike down the street and she was attacked by the two. 137 stitches, three missing fingers, nose torn off, and the sorry sob owner tried saying it was the girls fault for riding in front of their house on the sidewalk. I, didnt mention this happened in front of school. I am very bitter to anybody owning these animals, because they are bred to kill. Dont you start your bleeding heart bs with me about the owner treated it bad. If you cant see that these animals are born to do that , well i pray that you never get the injuries and pain my granddaughter did. She is permanently disfigured . Your thoughts are horribly wrong, there is something with you.. When i read zorro comments that person is trying to warn people about this and you basically call him an idiot for saying intelligent comments. Shame on you, you are the closed minded idiot here. Good for zorro.
