My job, as some of you guys know, is editing books for a literary agent. I don't get the Tom Clancys... mostly Slush PIle... and it isn't just editing as in correcting grammar etc. A book is PERHAPS marketable or I woudn't see it, but sometimes I have to suggest massive changes. Male writers almost always include sex... NOW many are trying to widen their market, & increase their chances of publication, by adding love interest to get women reading thrillers, crime etc. How do I judge they've got it right? If they haven't they lose their main market, the men. So... suppose you are free & you meet a sexy female. What would make you fall in love enough to propose, rather than trying to get her into bed?

You pick up a book - Live & Let Die - yes I know I pinched that from Ian Fleming. You know you'll get action... sex... HOW MUCH ROMANCE WOULD YOU READ BEFORE YOU BINNED IT???
Would it be okay for Bond to fall in love with, rather than just have sex with, the girl? (He did in one book... I THINK her name was Tiffany... did it work for you?
Can my writers get away with their hero falling in love & proposing marriage while finding bodies or shooting people???
