Been to New York city once.... nope... I can go out my back door, scratch my go nadds holler at the wife, dog, young in and nobody cares. the mower has lights I can mow at might-nite and nobody cares. Take my ACP 45 out or the M1 and fire off several rounds,, nobody cares...Call my buddy Larry and tell him I've got a problem and I've got half a dozen neighbors over in a matter of minutes. Don't think it gets much better than that..........

Grew up in a very bad city in Jersey. Being the only cracker within a mile made life a bit challenging. Been shot twice, returned fire with good results. Could never back down. The price of respect wasn't worth it. Moved to the sticks eventually and I loved it. Been here amongst the chipmunks for many years. I'll die in these mountains.

Grew up rural and grew my kids up more rural. We lived 3/10 mile OFF the road, surrounded by orchards and vineyards. We were LOUD.
One day when the eldest was in kindergarten, I went to help in the classroom. Neil, who lived about a quarter of a mile away came up to say hello. "Boy, you sure can yell loud," he said in a voice filled with admiration. "My whole family heard you hollering at XXXX yesterday."'
I am sometimes asked to quiet a room when tapping on a wineglass doesn't work. :D
