I don't think it is contempt as much as feelings of desertion. With so many bad things happening some people question the existence of a higher power. Faith is a personal issue......

I don't believe that to be true. People are going thru bad times now and even the so called non believer is asking the Big Guy for some help. If your question was specific to Jehovah Witnesses, all I can share with you is this, when they show up at my door I ask them never to set foot on my property again. So far they haven't here.

I think that is a broad statment. I think there are many US citizens that respect the belief of GOD even if they do not understand it.

Probably because they invade people's personal spaced by knocking on their doors and not taking no for an answer. Pushy buggers.
