    laws for steping down as personnel manager

    I am a hair dresser and personnel manager of a small salon and want to step down as manager but still work as a hairdresser in this salon. I can't get fired for this can I

    It depends on what state,  in the USA. If your in the South it's a freewill state. You can be fired for anything. Employers do not have to have a reason to fire you. They may have to pay unemployment benefits for awhile. In the North you have more rights as an employee. Sad but true. The rest of the country, I have no idea.


    I would talk to them and explain, they may surprise you.

    If you are in California, you can tender your resignatopm and leave the estasblishment.  But if you want to be employed in a different position, you need to have the consent of your employer should there be a vacancy.  The best thing is to talk to your employer nicely.
