I see religion as a personal matter that should be taught at home and in a church, not in schools. If one religion is taught, then they all should be taught. How many more teachers would be needed to handle that? Who wants their taxers to go up to cover the cost of the extra teachers needed? Do you realize how many religions there are in the world? We would need an expert for each and every one of them.

You are correct Colleen, you would have to have a practicing teacher of each religion to acurately teach each specific religion. Many public schools (at least the ones in my area) are allowed to teach Creation along side of Evolution, giving each equal time.

I believe that they are but if not,the reason should be that non-religious people are not exempted from paying taxes.

If I was in charge of setting the curriculum, I would include the teaching of the origins and philosophies of the major religions while offering equal time to the origins and philosophies of atheism. Taught in an honest, objective non-partisan way. THAT is what education is all about. Learning and understanding the different sides of arguments and then deciding which one makes more sense to embrace.

    Separation of church and state....

    Seperation of church and state

Public schools teach the religion of Evolution.
