Instructions
* 1
Preheat regular oven or toaster oven to 350 degrees.
* 2
Check salmon for stray bones. If you find bones, remove them immediately and discard.
* 3
Place salmon on an oven tray lined with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
* 4
Smear salmon with butter (real butter is preferred over margarine). Make sure to cover all of salmon with butter, getting into all cracks and crevices. Soften butter in microwave if necessary.
* 5
Sprinkle salmon with lemon pepper and dried parsley. Squirt a little bit of fresh lemon juice on salmon.
* 6
Place salmon in preheated oven and cover loosely with aluminum foil.
* 7
Bake salmon for approximately 12-15 minutes. This will vary depending on filet size and thickness; more cooking time may be needed for larger thicker salmon cuts and less cooking time may be needed for smaller or individual salmon filets.
* 8
While salmon is baking, zest lemon and set aside.

After eight minutes of cooking time, check salmon to see if it is cooked. Stick a fork in the thickest part of the salmon to test for flakiness. If salmon is still a bit tough or raw, continue cooking and check in two-minute increments thereafter. If salmon is tender and flakes when you stick the fork in it, it's done.

When salmon is tested to be done, remove from oven and sprinkle lemon zest on top. Serve with fresh lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
