I took a poetry class and I swear this is true: We had to look up EVERY word. Words have so many shades of meaning. I did my work on Dylan Thomas and learned a lot. I keep thinking I’ll look up poetry and do that again ... but I don’t. The poem I liked best was Fern Hill and I came up with a meaning that hadn’t been thought of before. So ... I brag BUT I wasn’t necessarily right. : )
One time when I was young a very nice man did “Fanny”for me. It’s a lovely romantic poem but I couldn’t get past that word “fanny” It made me giggle down deep in my throat. Oh, I was embarassed at 15......memories.

I enjoy poetry and used to write when I was much younger. My only adult stage performance was in "THE MISANTHROPE" by Moliere. The entire dialogue was in rhyme. I enjoyed the challenge of orating my lines as Arsinoe wuthout sounding "singsong". Looking up every word seems a little tedius, but I can understand how knowing the different definitions can give you many interpretations.
