Only if it is paid back within a reasonable amount of time. Government (taxpayers) should not be expected to provide everything for everyone. Ambition is a great quality and nothing that is worthwhile is free nor is it easy!

Thank you lindilou. I wish that I could act as "sagely" as I sound. It's much easier to give good advice than to actually "do it". :)
Advice is a 'take it or leave it' kind of thing...unless you're paying for it...and more often than not...we pay and pay! I just paid off 20 grand in school loans...am I any smarter for it? I dunno....I have spellcheck enabled in any case...LOL
I agree with the duck-- why do I have to pay for your education? What will you give me in return? Student loans at reduced interest is a good thing, as long as you don't default on it and then you become my tax responsibility again.
Quit asking for G'ment handouts, Quit soaking us taxpayers for things that are of no interest to us. Your education is your business, not mine! I already paid for mine, no help, I worked and went to classes. You try to keep up with me, you think you have it in you?? Don't be a begger!

"If you provide for the people...they will never learn to provide for themselves!"...which places us among the capable rather than 'dependents' on the 'state'.
