How old is the puppy? If 3 months of age or older, you can try this. I had a problem with a great Dane biting me, my arms looked like a battle field. I took him to a dog trainer, the police told me about. He took the dogs lip and bent it over his teeth and squeezed. Whenever the dog would bite he would do this. The dog was being playful, not aggressive. After that day the dog never mouthed on me, or bit me. It was great. It sounds cruel, but it wasn't.

The dog weighted 175 pounds, and could reach with his foot 6'1. I was 112 pounds and 5'2. Too much dog! He would knock me down and drag me running across the yard. He was a powerful dog, and willful.

Give him/her something to chew on. It feels good to bit down on something when teething.  Teething is painful. They have teething stuff available in pet stores for dogs that could prove to be beneficial at this stage of growth. Actually, I guess they enjoy chewing even when they are not teething. Say a command as: NO, NO and present the pup with a chew toy/bone  instead. Soon the dog will understand that the place for chewing is not his/her Master.
