I was just curious to see the opinions of others.

Many years ago I contacted them about representing me in an issue that was valid. I was told they don't handle anything except high profile cases with alot of plaintiffs to represent. I wasn't important enough. Since then, I've noticed that their agenda is more destructive and headline-grabbing than advocacy. I like your question....it is different from most of what I see.

well, my personal opinion is that while I am aware tthat a lot of people really hate the ACLU, I can't help but think that it's because they are always taking up positions that are unpopular with the majority. And isn't this the whole point of the bill of rights, to keep the majority from running rough shod over minorities. Some of their activites make me angry too, but I think on the whole they are beneficial to the country because they fight the fights that are unpopular, but need champions. For example, I was reading an article in the local paper about how they are taking up the cause of people that are being disadvantaged by eminent domain because their property will bring larger tax benefits if the government declares it an eyesore and gives it to a large corp and that is unconstitutional.
