Should I take the law into my own hands?

Homeless man lives in a truck behind a bar. He has a dog that he ties to his truck, hardly feeds and beats regularly. I called the local police department and the dog warden and reported this and they said they would talk to him. It's been at least a month, no one is doing anything and it is making me sick. Shall I take matters into my own hands at this point? I have occasionally fed the dog milk bones and she is a very friendly animal. She is very withdrawn because after you offer her food, she just appreciates what you give her and curls up tightly on the floor of the truck.
I have a need to save this poor animal, please give me advice....

If  the dog pound gets a hold of this dog more than likely they will just kill it. If it were me, I would offer the man some money to buy the dog. Then foster the dog until you can find her a good home. Please do something soon. Don't wait for any of these other people to step in and fix the problem.

" Let your local (Television Stations) know about your plight and hopefully they'll do a segment on your story and with any luck others will jump on the bandwagon & help get some help for this poor animal."   "(Remember Strength In Numbers)!"

Call the dog warden again and ask him why the dog is still with a man who can not even provide for himself? If the officials are unwilling to do anything, take the dog the next chance you get without the homeless man knowing, then find her a good home.

Keep making those calls, especially to the dog warden's boss, or the boss' boss.  Someone will listen to you.  If necessary, contact the TV station.  With you on the  dog's side, it cannot lose.

Good luck, and let us know the outcome to this sad situation.

Call the health dept. They usually control the animal shelter and animal abuse cases. Call the DA, Call the sheriff, and speak with him, not a deputy. Call the news papers, take pictures, post it on face book, there are organization on fb that will help you,( flood their offices with mail and emails demanding something be done). Keep dates, and who you spoke too. email a clipping to your Governor. This works, been there!

Homelessness is a terrible disease. Just think how many veterans are homeless!!! and suffer from Post Traumatic Stress!!!  Plenty of research has been done on the subject  of homelessness, and some social programs are available.    Many men have mental health issues that are not solved with one or two counceling sessions! And  they really prefer being left alone. They are weary of the system, and beating the dog in this case, shows that the man has issues where the dog is just some body to get rid of anger. It's "safer" then hitting a person and landing in jail, just as it is safer for a male beating up his wife, instead of the boss!  Him tying up the dog is so that he can not run away, which he probably would do. zit also shows the fear of being deserted by probably the only breathing thing that might like him (without the beating).

I am sure, that the man is on some kind of disability or social security and gets some funding somehow.  Perhaps it is used for things other than food and lodging.

He lives behind a bar? Does the bar owners not complain.   I would think, feeding the dog is ok and compassionate. The dog, too, is weary of human interactions for the pain it mostly causes.

In such a case many other "agencies" must be involved. One person can start, but others need to help, too.  Yes, the Newspaper is a very good start, if they have some "investigative" team or care to get a story.  But you will find, that this is not an isolated case in your town. There might be many others who are homeless for one reason or another.

Catch the guy gone   take the poor dog,  if the man is beating the dog  it's obivious he does not like or care about it.
