I wrote a chapter, “On the road to find out.’ that addressed the songs, performers
and lyrics of adolescents , pre, early and post adolesence (10-21). My
theory was that kids choose music that reflects their stage of development.
The title, one of Cat’s Steven’s amazing songs was chosen by adolescents
from 15=21. I also included the role of women in music. The Rolling Stones,
“Under My Thumb” is one example. What music at any age including
the above would you choose. It is difficult to find music that is greater
than those who played at Woodstock during the cultural revolution.
Among many choices, I loved the Doors, Rolling Stones, Beatles,
Janis Joplin, Santana, R$B (long list) Tina Turner, David Bowie
