Check that your fuel tank is breathing. It sounds like the pump is creating a vacuum in the tank because the tank is not vented. Some tanks have a breather hose on the top others have a very small hole in the tank cap.A good way to test it is to try running the engine without the fuel cap on.The reason the car will not start again is because the vacuum is still in the tank.If you take the fuel cap off at this point you will probably hear a great rush of air into the tank.

this could be voltage regulator getting hot or some relay that shuts down when hot if it was your fuel pump you replaced soon as car shuts down remove last connection from carburetor and see if you have fuel. or if it is fuel injected, check pressure on the fuel rail you will find a valve similar to a tire valve should be a lot of pressure there you can put a pressure gage there and with a manual can check the specs, if you don't have a manual I recommend getting one if you can read you will find it to be worth its weight in gold
