            I kicked the side out of my cradle the first time I heard this I thought it so funny.

                    I've never seen a red suspender on a fire man and I've met plenty while they were on duty... The last batch were wearing cool T-Shirts...

                      Mine are red with a reflective silver stripe.The real reason is (as many things are in the fire service) storied tradition.
