    On a 98 Dodge Dakota V-6, there is a wire that runs from the center top of the distributor cap back to, what ever it is called, on the right side of the truck. Could that have anything to do with my truck cutting off.

    it's called the coil wire indeed that would cause some major grief,  replace it altogether it's dirt cheap if that dont do the trick at least test the end of it for spark..DONT HOLD BY HAND . use an insulated pair of plyers and hold against the engine block and look for a spark..if none you might need a new coil..

    Yes.It is probably a carbon cored high tensile lead & they can absorb moisture when they get damp.


    Replacement cost is less than 5 bucks for that 1 wire or you can buy the whole set of 7 for 40 bucks or less.
