Why would a well need a filter ? The water is supposed to be pure.

I have a sediment filter, two carbon block filters, one for fluoride-arsenic-lead, one for hydrogen sulfide, and another one similar. 6 total. Then water goes to water softener then a ultraviolet light. Water coming from the ground is never pure. Water is hard here. We then have a reverse osmosis system. The two speciality filters are KDF55 and KDF85 . Saves the plumbing, dishwasher, water heater, and nice softened water to bath in . Our well pump is set 150 feet deep. Dirt farmers here suck the water out of the ground at rates of 600 gallons a minute, during growing season. Oil companies use a tremendous amount of water for drilling. Water flows around a lot here in the ground. Picking up water is in the path. So far its good .
