Sidney "Predator" Mills is a London-born, Jamaican-raised, legendary artist and producer who has been instrumental in shaping the landscapes of both Hip-Hop/Rap and Reggae music since the late ‘70s. In Jamaica, he attended Happy Grove High, Portland and Kingston College in St. Andrews. Sidney Mills continued his education at Brooklyn Tech College in New York.

Mills’ musical career began intelligibly by hanging out in St. Thomas with Outer Limits bandleader Reggie Mills and Theo Jackson of the Sonny Bradshaw Band. He ultimately secured a spot along with friend Kenton McBean in the St. Thomas Methodist Church Band which he held for more than seven years. In 1981, Mills moved to New York to play with renowned outfits like Iz’s, Calabash and A-Team Bands, backing up headliners such as Beres Hammond and Judy Mowatt. While touring with Mowatt, Mills was offered the chance to work with critically acclaimed reggae band, Steel Pulse, with whom he has remained for the past twenty-one years.

As the keyboardist for Steel Pulse, Mills has been involved with continuing the commitment of fighting injustice, promoting positive messages and educating the masses through spiritually uplifting music. While serving in this role, he was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Reggae Producer. As a member of Boogie Down Productions, he produced, remixed and engineered several of Hip-Hop’s most influential musical masterpieces.

While finding his way through the Hip Hop Industry, Mills along with engineer/producer Dwayne Sumal (Nuff Nuff Music) became partners with then New Jersey based company Continuum Records with C.E.O. Tim Brack where they co-produced songs for Kid Rock, Bobby Womack and Ronny Woods of the Rolling Stones.

Producing since 1980, Mills has collaborated with, among others, such musical heavyweights as: KRS-One, Queen Latifah, Wyclef Jean, Junior Reid, Ziggy Marley, Shinehead, Gwen Guthrie, Shaggy, Michael Stipes (R.E.M.), Shabba Ranks, Luciano,The Neville Brothers, Frankie Paul, Afire, Mikey Dread, Shelly Thunder, Big Mountain, Dennis Brown, Dollarman, The Slackers, Sly and Robbie, Kevin Batchelor and Super Cat. Mills has scored several films, including Fly By Night and Jamaica Beat and produced the Steel Pulse single in Spike Lee’s ‘Do The Right Thing.’

At present, Mills is CEO for SPI Music Inc and consults for all clients of CEG Entertainment’s New York offices. He is also set to release, in 2013, his first solo album entitled The Ambient Dub Files Vol.
