Hints for Bejeweled Blitz
Start Early
When you press play to start your minute of Bejeweled Blitz, you can actually begin to move the pieces before the word “1: 00 Go” leaves the screen. This gives you a chance to scope out the board, and start planning were you want to move pieces to clear them out of the way or create chains for extra points.
Since the countdown words take up the middle of the board, you will only be able to see gems around the lettering to swap to create a chain of two or three like colors. Often you will get lucky and see a group of four like-colored gems and the fifth gem is right above or below a wrong colored gem to be swapped out. This creates a hypercube, which allows you to wipe out all colored gems of your choice, leading to possible chains or power gem opportunities. Power gems are created when you build a chain of four like colors. When they are eliminated, you earn extra points.
Get in the Zone
When you play Bejeweled Blitz, you only have 60 seconds to get as high of a score as possible. The faster you go and create chains of three, you begin building additional points. After getting two chain swaps in a row within seconds, you will get a ‘2x’. The more chains you create without letting more than two seconds lapse between moves, your score is 3x, 4x, 5x, etc. This creates more points for you because the score from each chain, power gem or hypercube is multiplied based on the amount of speed bonuses you have.
Play From the Bottom
When you begin your play, start out by swapping chains from the bottom of the board. Not only will you be able to focus on the chains or possible combinations easier since they stay more constant, but when they fall from the top to fill out the board after eliminations, chances are you will have more combinations and higher scoring gems to work with.
