I know a teacher who said, "if you keep tearing at that book, i'm going to kill you." she said this to a 6th grade boy whose grandfather had just commited suicide.
I'm sorry but i don't know how it was resolved. nobody would tell me... or anybody else.
"shut your mouth" is a terrible thing to say. i'm inclined to think that teacher has no business working with kids.
what do YOU think? I know you asked ....

MOST OF US THINK WE CAN SAY ANYTHING WE WANT AND DO ANYTHING WE WANT NOWADAYS. PEOPLE ARE GETTING BEATEN INTO COMAS AT PROFESSIONAL SPORTS EVENTS. DIVORCES ARE RAMPANT IN THE US. POP MUSIC ADVOCATES PROMISCUITY, CRIME, AND SELF-CENTERED BEHAVIOR. PREGNANT PRE-TEEN AND TEENAGE GIRLS THINK THEY DESERVE SPECIAL TREATMENT IN SCHOOL AND EVERYWHERE ELSE (NO SHAME). AUTHORITY FIGURES (SUCH AS PARENTS AND TEACHERS) ARE ALLOCATED LITTLE RESPECT, IF ANY AT ALL.
however,
A TEACHER SHOULD NOT EVER SAY "SHUT YOUR MOUTH" TO ANYONE. LIKEWISE, NEITHER SHOULD ANYBODY ELSE! IT'S RUDE, OFFENSIVE, AND CONFRONTATIONAL. IT IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND MOST LIKELY INEFFECTIVE BECAUSE OF ITS AGGRESSIVE NATURE.
when I was a junior in high school, there wa an "incident" in my ap english class. the teacher ended up shouting "shut up", which was unthinkable in those days and silenced every one of us in shock. the teacher looked a little sheepish after having shouted at us, and explained herself by adding that we were "acting like a bunch of butts".
to this day, i wonder what a "butt" acts like. a - - hole i understand, but "BUTT"???
