I had my L4/5 disk removed years ago so I consider myself some what of a expert when it comes to lower back pain. Needles to say avoid lifting almost anything. The best advice I can give you is to purchase a back brace one that is made of foam rubber and is adjustable by Velcro. The brace will help keep your back straight and prevent further strain on it.

Always bend your knees to lift things. Sleep in the fetal position on your side with a pillow between your legs. Buy some Extra strength A535 Cream with heat. It does help reduce the pain some what.

Always sit up straight, and do not cross your legs when sitting down. Most woman do that and it is very bad for your lower back. Follow the above advice and you will help speed up the healing process.

    Good Luck!

Rengard gave you great advice. I have been told that one of the worst things to do around the home with a bad back is vacuum...hopefully you can find someone within the house to take over that task.
