Perhaps they have been and it was found that they do not fit the agenda or doctrine of the currant bibles being used today. A lot of material was rejected when the bible was being compiled. There was a set idea of what men wanted other men to follow when they were choosing what man would read and know as God's words according to the men making the decision. Throughout history, men have always written the words that other men follow. God has yet to pen a book all on His own. Pretty amazing for a power that could create a universe and all matter in it, huh?

In your quest to find old books that may be like something you would like to see in the Bible you should see what all the other new and old religions have and then there is the true quest for the will and way of God...aka science and technology. I was shocked and amazed to find our whole existence so religiously motivated and directed. The discovery of truth is our whole human quest. God created it all...so?

There is quite a history of death regarding translation of the Bible in England. I believe those of which you speak may have been translated by Tyndale (1494-1536).
Here is a resource which gives a pretty clear history of the translations of the Bible. The apocrypha is easily accessible online, if you are interested; I have read all of parts of Judith, Susanna, and Esther (some additional history, as Esther is one of the two women who have "books" in the Bible, the other being Ruth).
