Is that true?? Not when I bought my plasma, I compared pictures and found that in every case the plasma was better for viewing, although the plasma runs hot and has glass screen making it a bit heavier. LCD has come a long way though so things may be different now, I remember 'trails' and blacks not as good, LCD bright colors were better but they were exaggerated, One think I noticed when i bought mine is that stores had animation videos playing on LCD where on plasma they had real life movies, i believe this was because the brightly colored animations showed better on LCD-- Also, back then most all Plasma had black frames, where LCD had grey-- The reason for this is that Plasma had better black and white-- The frame or cabinet of a LCD was gray because it didn't do as well with B/W so when watching, you didn't have that black frame to make a comparison. But as I said, this was some time ago, 2006 when I bought my 50" plasma.. (Pioneer) They said that Plasma has a short lifespan, well so far, October 2006 5 years later and its still going strong.. They were much more expensive then-- My 50" was $3600-- Today I see them for about 1,500.. Pioneer is not making them anymore though, the last of the Japanese made TV's.. They are gone..
Average cost of Plasma TV's is less than LCD TV's. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. LCD have a longer life span than Plasma. Plasma 3d seems to out weigh LCD 3d TV. Seems to me advance technology will improve any product. :-)
