Gather all of your music files together and put them in a single folder. It is most convenient to put this folder on the desktop. Even if the audio types are all different, you can put them all in one folder.
Create a new folder. This will be a "target" folder and will contain your converted files once the process is complete. Name it something memorable so you do not confuse it with the folder you created in Step 1.
Download Format Factory, a free program that is very user-friendly and widely available (see Resources). After you have downloaded and installed the program, restart your computer.
Open Format Factory, and click on the tab in the left pane that says "All to MP3." A new window will pop up, asking which files you want to convert.
Click the "Browse" button and locate the folder on the desktop. Then, click OK to begin importing the files into your conversion queue. This may take a few minutes if you have a lot of files.
Convert your files. Once all of the files from your folder have been placed into the conversion queue, press the convert button. You will be asked to set a "target" folder for all the new files. Simply select the empty folder you created in Step 2, and then press the OK button. You will have to wait a few minutes, but as the files are converted, they will begin appearing in this new folder.
