The professional term that refers to the initials one places after their name to indicate levels of education, certification, degree, etc, (e.g. RN, DMD, CPA, JD) is "post-nominal letters" or "post-nominals." In Esthetics, once one has passed the State Licensing examination and received their license in Esthetics, then the post-nominal "L.E." would be an appropriate post-nominal, as it stands for "Licensed Esthetician." However, the ongoing growth of our industry and the development of specialized areas of practice - such as "medical" and "paramedical" esthetics - have in recent years brought along the appearance of additional post-nominals, such as "L.M.E", "C.M.E.", and so forth.
