Timothy is said to have been acquainted with the Scriptures since childhood. In 1 Corinthians 16:10 there is a suggestion that he was by nature reserved and timid.

In addition to what ROMOS has posted, and from the same source (for those not inclined to investigate), Timothy is regarded as the first century Christian bishop of Ephesus,[3]whom tradition relates died around the year AD 97. The New Testament indicates that Timothy traveled with Saint Paul, who was also his mentor. He is addressed as the recipient of the Epistles to Timothy. He was from Lystra, he mother and grandmother Jewesses; his father was Greek and not Jewish.

Tomothy was barely 35 yrs old when Paul, who was nearly twice his age wrote the first epistle to him.He had been converted as a lad by the apostle at Lystra at about 45 A.D. ; and was the most trusted of all his disciples. Paul called him a " beloved and faithful child ". Timothy was with Paul during his imprisonment in Rome
