1 Change a domain name by first purchasing another domain and then forwarding the new name to the old website address. You can mask the domain names if you so chose. However, you'll want to attract people to the new domain name. Transfer all the files to a new host under the new domain name by using the File Transfer Protocol to copy the files either to your computer or onto another server.
2 To constantly change domain names, change the name on the webpage and swap all the content out without actually altering the domain name. The only way to have a new domain name with the same file extensions is by setting up a new folder and publishing the files to that folder.
3 Alternatively, export your files from a forum, blog or another application and import them onto the application after you have the new domain name setup correctly on your server. Many phpBB forum users, Wordpress bloggers and various open-source applications allow you to import and export entire files with your database of information. The only thing you may have to redo are the themes, plugins, mods and styles that aren't part of the imported files.
