- Blood tests
- Full blood count and ESR
- Electrolytes (to detect low potassium, low sodium and low calcium which may cause generalized muscle aches)
- ANA autoantibodies to detect systemic lupus erythematosus
- Muscle enzymes, if suspect muscle disease
- Trichinella antibodies, if suspected
