    It means not enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen throughout your body.  The hemoglobin reading is below 12.

    Means you haemoglobin is low i.e. the red cells which carry oxygen around the body - there are many reasons for this. Be careful of taking Iron as vitamins as this will make you blood too thick and this is bad as it can cause blood clots. Medical supervision is needed to determine the cause. In the Himalayas the people have a high haemogloblin i.e. lots of red cells - they have adapted to the altitude as they need more oxygen equally high haemoglobins will be found in people who smoke although not nearly as high - again to help with the transport of oxygen. Men usually have a higher haemoglobin than women.
