It today's day age it is almost compulsory the following are three reasons to obtain a college degree:

1) To compete with other people who are applying for the same job. If you are applying for a job and another candidate has the same qualifications  but has a college degree they almost always will choose the person with the college degree.

2) Having just a high school education simply does not cut it in today's day and age. You will limit yourself to simple jobs that has very little opportunity for advancement.

3) First and foremost is money. Over a life time having a college education will make a tremendous difference in your life time income.

Unless you intend to be self employed your opportunities for advancement is very limited. Even if you are self employed having a a college degree will certainly help you be more successful. Of course there is an exception to every rule and some people are very successful without a college education but the odds are stacked against you.
