i remember being able to go buy cigs at the neighborhood store for my dad. without a note. and long snowy winters where it seemed like it would never end, snowflakes as big as your hand, and we were safe. didn`t have to lock your doors then. could sleep all night with just the screen door between us and the outside. what beautiful days then.

i r emember the 1970s and we had family living 40 miles away.we"d regularly visit them but leave the back door unlocked in case my aunty who lived a mile away decided to call round.I wouldnt even go to the post box round the block now without locking both doors.A sign of the times unfortunately

Went to Daddy-O’s on a hot, July evening. Janie wore her red shorts and white tee. I wore my pink dress with a full skirt and lots of slips on poufing it out. We ordered Chocolate Cokes and sipped a little and then I went over to the juke box. I dropped my nickel in the juke box and started the music & bopped to Rock Around The Clock. We lived in a tiny mountain town and looking back it just seems ideal.
In this city I live in now our kids can never go out to a place like that and be safe.
